Whenever I go to Hawaii, the first stop is Zippys. Then Jakes house. He’s that one friend everybody needs in the group. Always views from a positive outlook and wants the best for everyone. Hes like a big teddy bear. Most genuine as it gets. He’s always helping me out with ideas for tee shirts and teaching me funny words in pidgin. He always makes sure I’m having a good time when I’m there. He took me to ride sand at Waimanalo and we sat and drank olas for a couple hours. He saw one bird and said “NO AKU BIRDS!” I said wtf is that?! You remember “Thats so raven?” where she sees the future and she gets that crazy vision tunnel? I get that when I relate to something that I often cant put in words but its like chatgpt and instantly a design just pops up in my head. Ill never forget it either, until I actually go to design it. This was one of those times after he explained the meaning, and this is the design that taygpt etched into my brain.
My whole point of a tee shirt is to not only give you the shirt but share an experience and give a positive message that maybe others can relate to. Even if you cant cop the tee, you can still walk away with learning something new. Heres your history 101 lesson about these birds:
So these birds right, they fast af, and hungry, and favorite food is aku (aka fish). These aku dudes will swim to the surface to get some air and grab a bite to eat and then head back home deep underwater . Theres normal birds that sit and wait for these akus to pop up so they can get fresh sashimi, but these” aku birds” will fly in the same area just eyeing these akus. Before the patient birds realize, these fakas cut in line and swoop in to grab lunch. So nobody like these guys, but the fishermen will use them to know where that A5 sashimi is. So maybe the fishermen like them. So if that made any sense, an aku bird is a freeloader, that dude who likes to party but aint bring nothing to the party. He’ll eat your food, drink your beer, clog your toilet, and take 2 plates to-go. Aka Paul, aka the golfer guy.
Nobody likes an aku bird and we all know one or two of them. Jakey = exact opposite of an aku bird. I tried to surprise Jake with this tee but it was too hard not to show him. Look at that lifted yota.
